A Barr of Soap

Hi! I am Juanita Barr, wife, mother, grandmother and soap artisan.  

I love goats milk soap because I found after trial and error that nothing compares to the soft gentle feel of your skin after using soap made with a goats milk foundation...and regular use has been known to bring about wonderful changes in your skin/complection...so dont be surprised if after you experience goats milks soap, that those around you ask if you are wearing a new brand of makeup because they notice an amazing change in your look!

Of course and artisan wouldnt be an artisan if she didnt expound on the basics by creating new and exciting formulas to bring a touch of luxury to an everyday practice such a bathing your skin. That being said, I have put together three types each having special individual properties for skin care.  The types are as follows:

**GOATS MILK HAND SOAP...
Created in 4oz bars and decorated to add appeal to any bathroom or kitchen. This soap is our basic formula beginning with a goats milk foundation and enriched in vitamins A,D and E. The lather is soft and velvet-like with the objective of providing you with a squeeky clean cleansing that leaves a soft feel afterward.

**GOATS MILK SPA SOAP...                                                                                               Created in 5oz bars to bring about a spa experience with the most discerning of indivduals in mind and is centered toward fighting dry and/or aging skin. The spa bars begin with a goats milk foundation along with some exciting extras such as Olive Oil for vitamin E and Aloe for its ability to penetrate deep into several layers of tissue and break down and digest dead cells. Horsetail Butter,extracted from the plant, has been added because it contains the building blocks needed for collagen and elastin synthesis in the skin and is also thought to help rebuild and regenerate damaged skin cells.  Lather consistancy is light and airy for spreadability and ease of penetration. Additionally, you should find you use less hand/body lotion because of the wonderful moisturizing properties of this goats milk soap.

**GOATS MILK TEEN SOAP...
Created in 5oz bars to bring about a gentle cleansing with the focus on over active, oily skin. The teen bars begin with a goats milk foundation and are infused with honey. Honey is noted for its antibacterial properties which is stated to be beneficial for acne prone skin. Honey is believed to inhibit the bacteria growth therefore reducing the chance of breakouts.  In addition to honey, the teen soap contains lemon butter because it is considered to have a soothing effect on skin and can reduce scar tissue and improve circulatory processes. Lather is rich and creamy for an enjoyable cleansing experience.

HISTORY OF GOATS MILK:
For centuries, goats milk has been used in skin care. Goats Milk not only contains emollient fats, but modern science has revealed the presence of lactic acid. Lactic acid is one of the most commonly used Alpha Hydroxy Acids in skin care, due to it's unique ability to penetrate the skin. This penetration ability allows rejuvenation at the very core where it is needed.

1. Goat milk soap has a pH level similar to human skin; therefore, goat milk soap benefits the skin by protecting skin from daily bacterial and chemical invasions.
2. The moisturizing benefits of goat milk soap surpass that of commercial soap because of the natural creams in goat's milk.
3. Handmade goat milk soap benefits people with sensitive skin because it doesn't contain additives like alcohol, petroleum and preservatives. This reduces the risk of skin irritation and allergic reactions.
4. Goat milk soap benefits people with acne-prone skin because the proteins in milk kill acne-causing bacteria.
5. Goat milk soap sloughs off dead skin because of the alpha-hydroxy acids found in the milk.
6. Eczema, a skin condition caused by red, itchy skin patches, benefits from goat milk soap since the natural nutrients in goat milk moisturizes skin and reduces itchiness in the skin.

DOS AND DONTS FOR HANDMADE SOAP: Our hand made soap contains glycerin and is coconut oil based therefore....
*Handmade soap will not survive if left or stored in a hot car or a steamy bathroom. Always store handmade soap in a cool dry place in your home.
*Handmade soap will not survive if left in standing water. Always use a vented bottom soap dish for handmade soap.                                                                             *Always keep the clear wrapping on your soap until ready to use. Remember, Glycerin will draw moisture and unwrapped soap that is not being used will bead.

All soap at A BARR OF SOAP is created in a smoke free environment. No animals are used in the testing of our products...just our more than willing kids and grandkids ;)
